They bring us closer to ourselves and each other - perhaps close enough that ills such as starvation will be solved by our desire to help, and ingenutiy in face of challenge. These types of connections bring us wisdom, joy, happiness, strength, wonder, excitement, and much, much more. Connection to something greater than all humanity we may call that nature, the universe, god - whatever it is, it presents to us the feeling of awe. While many require relief in specific ways - sustenance to overcome starvation, for instance - a great many ills are caused by the absence of connection. There are all manners of pain, suffering, and despair in our world. How would humanity’s forays to Venus, Mars, Saturn, Jupiter, and beyond look in this microscope? Would we see, through time, a root or shoot (in form of electromagnetic communication) extending beyond a terrestrial seed? Would humanity be seen as a separate entity, or would Earth simply be seen to grow from a sprout, and take root across the Solar system? How many of these transmissions are now rippling beyond our shores? Transmission of these waves became common place. Radio, television, satellite communication. Earth, perhaps, could be seen in a state of evolution. Less than 200 years ago, we would then begin to see a shift. To look upon Earth as if by microscope, we would see waves of electromagnetic radiation.
